it's friday!

today:
we discussed the various types of fractures. this topic was the end of the bone overviews notes for the first part of this unit. i also showed some common depressions and projections on the leg, hip, and skull bones.

for this weekend:
study the bone overview notes.
quiz will be on monday.

today was the last chance to make up unit test or the ear quiz. if you have not taken those yet, please see me on monday or i will be forced to give you a zero.

thursday january 31.

today:
we discussed the microscopic anatomy of bones. we also discussed how bones are formed during pregnancy and how they grow during childhood. once a person reaches adulthood, the bones stop growing and continue to remodel depending on calcium levels in the blood and the pull of muscles and gravity on the bones.

for tomorrow:
bone fractures

the quiz on the bone overview (part one of the skeletal system) will be next week. probably on tuesday, but make sure to study the material over the weekend. the notes for this part of the unit will be posted this weekend.

wednesday january 30.

today:
we first watched a video that discussed the function of bones. along with this video, all students were required to complete a guided outline that will be worth 20 points. if you were not in class today, schedule a time with me to make up the video.

we also discussed the gross anatomy of a long bone. tomorrow we will continue to discuss the
microscopic anatomy.

if any students still need to make up the ear quiz or ear/nose/tongue test, they will need to schedule a time with me before friday afternoon to make those assignments up.

tuesday january 29.

today:

we started the skeletal system. today we covered the 2 parts of the skeletal system (axial and appendicular), the functions/shapes/types of bone, and several identifying bone markings. all the notes were taken on individual outlines.



if any student still needs to make up the ear quiz or ear/nose/tongue test must do so by the end of the week or the grade will become a zero.

we have finished the first unit of the semester:
ear, nose, and tongue.
the test for this unit was today.
tomorrow we will begin the skeletal system.

those students needing to make up the ear quiz from last week or the unit test taken today will need to meet with me before or after school by the end of the week.
